Editor's Checklist
If you come across issues in your own writing or questions on a state exam, ask yourself the following questions to make sure there are no grammar errors:
1.) Is it a sentence? (Does it have a Subject and a Verb?)
2.) Is there more than one independent clause (sentence) combined together correctly? (FANBOYS)
2.) Does it start off with an AAAWWUBBIS? (Subordinate Clause)
3.) Is the punctuation used correctly? (Commas, Semicolons, Colons, etc.?)
4.) Does the verb match the subject? (Subject-Verb Agreement)
5.) Can any noun be confused with something else? (Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement; Dangling Modifiers)
If you can answer all of these questions, your sentence will be correct grammatically.
If you don't know a part of this checklist, go look it up!
